Congressman Sestak Endorses Lentz as His Successor

in the 7th Congressional District

Bryan Lentz with Joe SestakMEDIA, PA—Calling it the best endorsement that he has ever made, Congressman Sestak today endorsed State Representative Bryan R. Lentz to fill his soon-to-be vacant Congressional seat as he takes on Senator Specter in the Pennsylvania Democratic Senate Primary.  The endorsement represents a changing of the guard in the Delaware County Democratic Party.

“I cannot think of anyone who I’d rather have as my Congressman than Bryan Lentz,” Sestak stated.  “He is someone who I know will always have the citizens’ back.  I consider Bryan a deep friend.  But, even more important than that, he’s going to be a friend of this district.  His doors will be open, people can come in, he will always state his mind and he will be the best Congressman that we have ever had.  I have no doubt about that.  I’m going to be proud to call him my Congressman.”

Bryan Lentz with Joe Sestak“This is someone who actually understands that you have to invest well in people,” Sestak added.  “You’re going to have a warrior down there who understands that it is about the educational opportunity for people; that it’s about getting our economy going again and you’re going to have somebody who understands that this healthcare issue that we have has to go another step.”

“I am very grateful for the Congressman’s support and endorsement,” Lentz stated.  “Joe represents the kind of political leadership that our nation is craving.  Americans want change in Washington.  They want new ideas and a new sense of service and Joe has done just that.  So I want to continue in the tradition that Joe has established, continue with the standards that he has set, and I look forward to campaigning with him through the fall.”

A life-long resident of Southeastern Pennsylvania, Lentz has made service to his community and country his life’s work.  In 1986, after graduating from Valley Forge Military College and Georgetown University, he became an Airborne Ranger, assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg North Carolina.  He then attended law school at Temple University and served for six years as an assistant prosecutor.  Lentz continued his service in the military as an Army reservist serving in Bosnia and volunteering after 9/11 to lead soldiers in Iraq in 2004. He was awarded both the Bronze Star for Service and the War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal for his military service and he was elected to the Pennsylvania House in 2006 after defeating a 28-year incumbent. Lentz lives in Swarthmore with his wife Jennifer and their son Thomas.
